Maria Teresita A. Guadarrama is an educator, textbook writer and teacher trainer.
After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education specializing in Mathematics from the College of Education of the University of the Philippines, Quezon City, she landed her first teaching job as a grade school teacher in Colegio de San Lorenzo, a private school in Project 8, Quezon City. She taught different levels on various subjects, like, Mathematics, English, Science and Art.
Shortly after, she moved to another private school where had a brief stint as a teacher in Miriam College, Quezon City. She taught Language Arts in grades 3-5 and grade 7 .
After two years, she moved farther south of Metro Manila where she worked as a teacher in STI Academy Grade School. She was a Mathematics teacher in grade one through six for three years before she became Principal in STI Grade School, in Las Piñas City.
Since becoming a school administrator, she started pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Management at the Philippine Normal University in Manila.
In 2003, Statefields School of Bacoor City, Cavite got her as academic coordinator and after a few months, was promoted to the position of Vice Principal, the post she held for over twelve years. Over and above this role, she likewise held other positions like, PAASCU Chair and Senior High School Program Development Officer.
She started her career as a writer at age 23. She has already written several textbooks in Filipino, Math and Art. Her passion is to develop programs and write books that will inspire teachers to love teaching and motivate children to be passionate about learning.
She is a lecturer/resource person in seminars and workshops conducted for teachers and school administrators in different parts of the country.
She participated in intensive seminar-workshops of Dr. Nanci Smith and Ms. Janie Ray Smith, on Integrating Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design held in St. Giles Hotel, Makati City last April, 2011 and in St. Paul’s Renewal Center in Cavite last August 2011. These workshops were sponsored by Rex Bookstore, Inc.
She was also one of the chosen and trained facilitators at the Rex Bookstore sponsored 3rd Annual AECON (Annual Educators’ Conference) which focused on the theme, “Integrating UBD and DI.” Moreover, she was able to attend Dr. Robert Sternberg’s seminar on Successful Intelligence held at Makati Shangri-la Hotel last October 2011. Likewise, last October 2011, she went to Singapore to attend a seminar by Dr. Yeap Banhar on Singapore Math teaching strategies.
She attended several professional trainings last 2014. First, she had the opportunity to be a participant in Mr. Francis Kong’s Level Up Leadership Training. Then, she attended a boot camp for school administrators entitled: Standards Based Assessment Toolkit for Meaningful Measurement in Education. She became part of Training the Trainers Program held in Discovery Suites Pasig.
The most recent training she attended was about: Integrating 21st Century Literacies in the Curriculum last October 16, 2015 with Mr. Mike Fisher, ASCD Speaker. This was held during Rex Bookstore’s Annual Educators Conference.
Recently, she had the opportunity to meet Ms. Eireen Diokno-Bernardo, a renowned name in e-commerce and founder of ecom102.com, who became her mentor and friend. Ms. Eireen helped her create her brand and guided her in putting up her first website, www.learningbin.com.
